PUBLIC/OUTDOOR NURSING IN THE WINTER
violetandme:
The obvious solution would be to go indoors but if I can’t —
Or if I have heavy layers on — I doubt that I’ll be nursing in a blizzard!!!
What to do when baby wants food?
I wear low cut (modestly) shirts so that my boobs are easily accessible.
What kind of clothes are breast feeding appropriate in the winter months?

This weekend Beatrice and I traveled north for a wedding. I forgot my breast pump, which wasn’t a huge deal since B was by my side for all but the 6 hours I spent at the wedding. She sleeps for 6 hour stints where I don’t pump - no problem.
Apparently this WAS a problem because I’ve been dealing…

Don't Forget: BREAST FEED →
dontforget12:
In America, sixty-five percent of all mothers breast feed their newborn babies. Of this sixty-five percent, 2/3’s of them stop after three to four months.
Breastfeeding for a year, for all newborns, would save the lives of one million babies, throughout the world, annually.
Bear in mind that…

The Imperfect Good Mother
A few weekends ago there were people from La Leche League in my neighborhood with a booth informing the patrons of the downtown area about the laws on breastfeeding. Apparently there had been several complaints about women who breastfeed in public and an innocent security guard who didn’t know what to do. A mother who was insulted by complaints about breastfeeding in public called La Leche...

Marriage. “When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words,...

Hi S,
I need some mommy advice. I want to start weaning my daughter off breast milk. Would you recommend to start weaning her off with formula or try whole milk? She is 9 months and we will be traveling soon.
Thanks

Breastfeeding is always a better choice than other food source for humans to create a substitute for breastfeeding. The reason for this is due to the fact that breastfeeding not only provides food for a child, but offers emotional support and love. This is very important both for your health and…

Do you know what really gets under my skin? How it is totally acceptable to smoke cigarettes in public and subject others to the harmful chemicals, not to mention awful smell, but breastfeeding is not accepted. I don’t want to pop a boob out in the middle of a crowded space or anything, but it would be nice not to be stared at if you’re in your own car with a cover over you...
Breastfeeding Men
It was intermission at the self-publishing workshop and before I could leave my seat and mingle, another participant apparated Harry Potter style right next to me. With a self introduction slim on details he immediately began sharing a peculiar anecdote. It went something like, “blah, blah, blah – co workers at the restaurant. Blah blah blah – lady breastfeeding. Blah blah blah – what do you...

There’s no doubt about it. Breastfeeding is one of the most beautiful but awkward feelings for some new mums. There’s a definite knack to breastfeeding successfully and if you’re lucky, your baby is a natch and finds it so simple they can do it with their eyes shut ;) But it can be a tricky thing…

Breastfeeding Mums Need To Talk! →
mothertobe:
Breastfeeding can be an isolating experience. A new mum, breastfeeding for the first time, can feel cut off from family and friends if they are unsupportive or simply do not understand her motives. All too often it is assumed that a breastfeeding mum will scurry off to do the deed behind a locked door and well out of sight. And God forbid she utters the phrase, “I’m...

The Seed I Planted to Grow Breast Milk . . .
I hadn’t decided whether or not if I even wanted to become a parent before I knew with absolute certainty that I really wanted to breastfeed. The thing that attracted me the most about breastfeeding was the consistent data affirming how breast milk lead to smarter kids. Being the super nerd I pride myself to be, what more could a aspiring mom want in child than double her own intelligence....

Breast milk jaundice may peak during the 10-21 days, although it may last only two or three months. Unlike what you might think, usually breast milk jaundice is normal. If you do breastfeeding should be stopped, it should be done only for a small period of time in rare cases. Twenty different studies, including two controlled studies suggest several advantages of long-term exclusive...
