Works include books, journal entries, songs and photography. The mission of BMM is to educate, encourage and entertain parents on breast feeding, nutrition, family bonding, and green initiatives. What makes us unique is that our art documents our journey as a family. It is not just for moms or babies but depicts the father as having an equally active role in the nourishment of the child. Also creating an image of breast feeding as something hip, fun and relate able.

Breast Milk Musings

Messy mama

Messy mama

I think I might just make this shawl for myself.
Apparently this WAS a problem because I’ve been dealing…

In America, sixty-five percent of all mothers breast feed their newborn babies. Of this sixty-five percent, 2/3’s of them stop after three to four months.

Breastfeeding for a year, for all newborns, would save the lives of one million babies, throughout the world, annually.

OMG! Let me be clear, I am ALL FOR breast feeding I am even ok w/ breast feeding in public as long as you make some arrangements to cover it up, and I only say cover it up b/c I know it makes a lot of ppl uncomfortable, I personally don’t care. I mean that’s why you got um, so… ANYWAY the idea of other ppl, including yourself, drinking breast milk besides the baby, now that I cannot handle. Those stories about families that all use breast milk on their cereal etc. totally mcnsast. Seriously I gagged about 4 times as I watched this during this episode of “Tia and Tamera” on the Style Channel.

: I gagged about 4 times hearing that you watch “Tia and Tamera” on the Style Channel

Apparently there had been several complaints about women who breastfeed in public and an innocent security guard who didn’t know what to do. A mother who was insulted by complaints about breastfeeding in public called La Leche League to set things straight.

I know that there are people against breastfeeding in public, but I was surprised by who was making the complaints. Mothers! Not dads or women without children, but mothers. Their reasoning for complaining was equally surprising. They claimed they didn’t want to explain to their kids what the other mother was doing.

Uh, what?! What is so hard about explaining breastfeeding? If a mother is not comfortable with something that is so natural and logic then what other things are they not going to explain to their children? Is that really the real complaint?

I was looking for new books for my E-reader and read a bit of a book called “Bad Mother” and there was the truth I hadn’t realized. Too many women are walking around this planet full of a sense of inadequacies whether real or imaged. Women beat themselves up all the time about not being a good enough mother. Seeing other mothers boldly do the thing that you didn’t have the courage to try is just one more reminder of what a “bad mother” they are. They project their self-dissappointment onto other mothers as if to say, “If I can’t be good enough then neither can you.” It’s almost like a forced initiation into the “bad mother” club.

No thanks. I don’t suffer from any sort of “bad mother” anything. I am fully aware that I am human and that humans are not perfect and that being a mother doesn’t equate to superpowers. I respect other people’s decisions regardless if I agree or not without complaint or dispute.

If you are uncomfortable with having to explain to your own children what breastfeeding is than don’t. Making a public complaint in front of your kids is bringing more attention to the matter than acceptance and respect. After all, breastfeeding in public is not illegal. In fact the government encourages it. Check out womenshealth.gov and see for yourself. Or join my club “The Imperfect Good Mother” and learn how empowering breastfeeding and high self-esteem is.

In a relationship, married or not... In comparison to our experience at the NASA Space Center in Orlando, my husband and I gave San Diego Sea World 5 stars for being infant and toddler approved. We didn’t encounter any ridiculous stroller restrictions or changing table shortages. In fact, the restroom had changing tables conveniently located away from the general area with its own sink. Just when we thought the singing and dancing Elmo and photo opt was the icing on the cake my husband discovered the best jewel in Sea World. On the way to the aquarium my husband spotted a sign for nursing. That’s right, an entire room for mothers to breastfeed their children complete with a rocketing chair. It wasn’t marked with the new international breastfeeding sign but anyone would certainly get the picture.

benzosforthenazgul:

A Spanish toymaker known as Berjuan has developed a breast-feeding doll that comes with a special halter top its young “mothers” wear as they pretend to breast-feed their “babies.” The halter top has daisies that cover the little girls’ nipples and come undone just as easily as the flaps of a nursing bra would.

The doll — called Bebe Gloton, which translates as “gluttonous baby” — makes sucking noises as it “feeds.”

Click here to see Bebe Gloton on ‘FOX & Friends.’

Like many other dolls, Bebe Gloton can cry, signaling she wants more milk.

Although many health care providers promote the benefits of breast-feeding, parents around the world have criticized Berjuan, saying the idea of breast-feeding is too grown-up for young children — and may even promote early pregnancy.

“That’s not cool,” Lori Reynolds, of El Paso, Texas, told KFOXTV.com. “No, I would never get that for my child.”

But other moms said they support the product.

“I think that it’s great that people want to have a doll that promotes breast-feeding,” said Rose Haluschak, also of El Paso. “Most dolls that are purchased come with a bottle. That is the norm in society, an artificial way to feed your baby.”

Dr. Manny Alvarez, managing health editor of FOXNews.com, said although he supports the idea of breast-feeding, he sees how his own daughter plays with dolls and wonders if Bebe Gloton might speed up maternal urges in the little girls who play it.

“Pregnancy has to entail maturity and understanding,” Alvarez said. “It’s like introducing sex education in first grade instead of seventh or eighth grade. Or, it could inadvertently lead little girls to become traumatized. You never know the effects this could have until she’s older.”

Alvarez said breast-feeding reduces childhood infections, strengthens maternal bonding and increases the child’s immune system. But introducing breast-feeding to girls young enough to play with dolls seems inappropriate, he said.

“What’s next?” wrote Eric Ruhalter, a parenting columnist for New Jersey’s Star Ledger. “Bebe Sot — the doll who has a problem with a different kind of bottle, and loses his family, job and feelings of self-worth? Bebe Limp — the male doll who experiences erectile dysfunction? Bebe Cell Mate — a weak, unimposing doll that experiences all the indignation and humiliation of life in prison?

Hi S,

I need some mommy advice. I want to start weaning my daughter off breast milk. Would you recommend to start weaning her off with formula or try whole milk? She is 9 months and we will be traveling soon.

Thanks

I am 5ft, 7in (174 cm) tall. 25 years old. I weigh 101 pounds (46 kg). I do not have an eating disorder. When I got married I weighed 110 (50 kg). Three weeks after I had Maverick, I was back down to my goal weight of 114 (52kg). I tried so hard to stay there. Obviously, I failed.

I just started reading this book The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by members of the La Leche League and it basically changed my entire view on breastfeeding and child-rearing. I have this awesome ability to not think ahead and jump head first into things and this was definitely one of them. But really who knows how to raise a child? This book has definitely opened my eyes on a lot of things, like when she cries feed her, no matter if I just took her off, she needs me for comfort and food, only I can give her that. It’s an amazing feeling really. She really can’t eat too much. My body produces only what she needs. If she’s not eating, then I’m not producing and so she suffers. So what if I have a little pain every now and then? She has NO idea what anything in the world is but her mother, and food.

I know I know I’m probably boring a lot of you but to me this is brand new. Like I said I jumped head first into all this craziness. By doing that I overwhelmed the shit out of myself, but with a little research and some helpful people I’m fairly certain I’ll live through this. Heh.

I’ve also read books that have a more structured philosophy to feeding and I know there’s billions of books about different ways to raise your child and I’d love to read them all because they all offer something different. There’s no right way to raise a child and all I really know is that everyone has an opinion but in the end it’s my choice and my instinct I’ll trust, no doctor, mother of 10 or psychologist will tell me what I can and can’t do but I’ll still listen. I’m not a dick.
